Lilly & Liam is a pattern for all seasons! The sweater can be sews with long or short sleeves: folded or hemmed. The pattern is suitable for light to medium weight knit fabric, such as jersey, college or french terry.
In its simplest version Lilly & Liam is a sweater with cuffed waist and sleeves and a neckband. For more challenge you can sew a peplum, instead of the cuff waist. The sweater is then shorter in the front and longer in the back, creating a beautiful silhouette.
You can also split the front and/or back of the sweater for a chance to combine different fabrics/prints. Last but not least, you can sew a roomy and cosy wrap-around hood. Get creative and combine these variants!
Level of difficulty: 1-2/3.

Fabric for the sweater: Knit fabric such as jersey, with good stretch and recovery. You can also use fabrics such as college or french terry which are heavier, but you should then consider sizing up, since these fabrics usually have less stretch.
Fabric for the cuffs and neckband: Jersey or ribb, (or any of the above listed). Keep in mind that the pattern pieces for the waistband, long sleeves, cuffs and neckband are made for jersey (cotton/lycra). If you use ribbing instead, you will need to make the cuffs shorter (see Sewing Instructions).
This is an estimate of how much fabric you’ll need, based on 160 cm (63”) wide fabric that has not been pre-washed.
Lilly & Liam has a relaxed fit without becoming too wide. The sweater has 6,5 cm (2 5/8”) positive ease which means that the chest width on the finished garment is 6,5 cm (2 5/8”) larger than the body measurement for that size.
In the table below you can see which size is recommended based on the child’s chest width. This is based on jersey fabric (cotton/lycra). If you’re sewing with heavier fabrics such as college or french terry, you should consider sizing up.
