See the fabric requirements chart among the pictures.
YOU WILL NEED:
- Thin (light-weight) fabric (approx. 100-200 gr/m2). Choose knit or woven fabric. My personal preference for Juni is woven fabric since the neckline with the collars will be more smooth, but knit fabrics works nicely too.
Woven fabric suggestions: cotton, linen, viscose, seersucker, poplin.
Knit fabric with 40% stretch: jersey (of cotton, viscose, tencel or bamboo). Avoid college, french terry, ponte and similar, they would be too thick.
- Buttons, regular or snap buttons (approx. 12 mm in diameter). About 6 buttons for the smallest sizes and about 10 buttons for the largest sizes.
- Light-weight fusible interfacing. For knit fabric, use an interfacing with stretch for the collar, eg. Vlieseline H609. For the button placket you can use interfacing without stretch, eg. H200 eller H250. If you’re using woven fabric, use eg. H200 for the collar, and H200 or H250 for the button placket.
- Pinking shears are optional but very useful to trim down seam allowances, especially if you’re sewing woven fabric.
- Good to have: tape measure, fabric scissors, pins/clips, iron, glue marker, and sewing machine with coordinating threads. Suitable sewing machine needle. For light-weight knit fabric: use stretch needle size 75. For light-weight woven fabric: use universal needle size 70-80.
