Disa trousers: a new pattern for kids

Disa trousers: a new pattern for kids

Check out my new trouser pattern for kids! This is DISA.

In this blog post I'd like to tell you more about the different variants in this pattern, and what fabric choices I've made with my featured trousers.

All of these photos can be found on the Disa trouser page, but here I'm able to tell you more details about the trousers I've made.

Light blue trousers in variant B

Variant B is the wide trousers. This is size 128 according to the child's waist and hip width. Since her height and inside leg measurement rather points to size 140 I've lengthened the pattern to fit size 140 in height. There's guidance for lengthening and shortening in the Sewing Instructions.

The fabric I used here is tencel jersey. It has lovely drape which I though was nice for the wide leg trousers.

These trousers were sewn with back pockets, slash pockets, faux fly, and elasticated waistband.

The t-shirt by the way was sewn with my pattern Ester & Ebbe, but it's a modified version. It was cropped with 9 cm.

Light green trousers in variant A

Variant A, bootcut trousers, sewn with yoga waistband. The fabric I used here is ribbed jersey. It had lots of stretch so I sized down 2 sizes in width. (The Disa trousers are made for fabrics with 30-40% stretch).

Pink trousers in variant B

Variant B, wide trousers. Elasticated waistband, no pockets. The fabric I used is cotton jersey.

Dark grey trousers in variant A

Variant A, bootcut trousers. Sewn with elasticated waistband, faux fly, back pockets and slash pockets. The fabric is ponte (or ponte di roma, also called courtelle jersey).
